Today’s game is a bit gross if you ask me, but if you ask some students, they think it’s fun. I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. Our game centers around baby food.
Now I know that most of us have probably seen people play a version of this game before, but one big difference for us is that we don’t force people to play this one. If they want to join in, great, but don’t make it mandatory!
In fact, I would say that’s a good rule of thumb when playing any gross game. It’s your prerogative to lead the game, but it’s not your prerogative to make everyone miserable!!
PREP TIME– 5 Minutes
ITEMS NEEDED– 10-12 Jars/Containers of Different Baby Food, Paper Plates, Pens
GAME TIME– 5 Minutes
PARTICIPANTS– Minimum of 4, but you can play with an unlimited amount of people if you have enough materials
While I know that some of the country is still experiencing frigid weather, most places are starting to see temperatures climb. That being said, you’ll notice a steady diet of outdoor games being mixed in with our indoor, up front games. Today, we are sharing a classic camp game, simply entitled, Melt It!
PREP TIME– None (other than buying the ice!)
ITEMS NEEDED– Blocks of Ice
GAME TIME– 5 Minutes
PARTICIPANTS– 2+ Teams of 5 or more (you can have an almost unlimited number per team for this game)
Last week, we shared a game called 3-Ball, today we are introducing another baseball themed game, entitled Swing Batter Batter Swing. If you know the rules of baseball, you’ll be able to put this game together in just a few minutes.
PREP TIME– 5 Minutes
ITEMS NEEDED– Large or Extra Large Marshmallows, Plastic Bats (one normal size and one giant size bat), Bases (or something to mark as bases, i.e. paper plate), Large Open Space or Softball/Baseball Diamond
GAME TIME– 15-45 Minutes
PARTICIPANTS– 2 Even Teams of at least 6 or more (you can have 20 on each team if you want!)
This week we are sharing an old game with a bit of a twist. In fact, you may have played some version of 3-Ball. To be honest, our version involves a Frisbee, but the concept remains the same.
PREP TIME– 3-5 Minutes
ITEMS NEEDED– Kickball (soccer or dodgeball will work), Football, Frisbee, Canister (trash can), gym or large field
GAME TIME– 15-45 Minutes
PARTICIPANTS– 2 Even Teams of at least 6 or more (you can have 20 per team if you want!)
INSTRUCTIONS
You will need to set up a softball size diamond (baseball is a bit large for the game). If you don’t have a diamond available, use paper plates or flat rubber base pads from the Dollar Store to set up a field. Keep in mind that you will need a large area to play the game.
We are sharing a great group game that involves everyone and can be played indoors or out. The name of the game is Hula Hoop Hysteria.
PREP TIME– None
ITEMS NEEDED– Hula Hoops (1 for each team)
GAME TIME– 5 Minutes
PARTICIPANTS– 10 Participants (or more) per Team
INSTRUCTIONS
Once you’ve selected and separated teams, have them line up in single file lines. At this point instruct them that they must take the hand of the person on their right and left. The first and last person in line will only be holding the hand of one person.
Today’s game is simply entitled, Flip It! It’s a super simple game that involves a teamwork, creativity and a whole lot of balance.
PREP TIME– None
ITEMS NEEDED– Beach Towel or Small Blanket
GAME TIME– 5-10 Minutes
PARTICIPANTS– 6-8 Participants per Team
INSTRUCTIONS
Once you have selected teams, lay down your beach towel (or small blanket) on the floor. If it’s one-sided, put it face down. You will then have each team huddle together so that they are all standing on the towel together at the same time. It should be fairly crowded, but they will need a small amount of space to begin playing.
Ok. I really have no reason to post this, other than I need to laugh sometimes. I know it’s pretty old, but if you’ve never stumbled upon it, take a break and watch it!
What’s better than eating a Slim Jim??? How about a Slim Jim Sword Fight! That’s right, you get to channel your inner Macho Man for this epic battle!
PREP TIME– None
ITEMS NEEDED– Goggles, Slim Jims
GAME TIME– 3 Minutes
PARTICIPANTS– 4 or 8 participants (it works as a tournament style- 8 to 4 to 2 to 1)
INSTRUCTIONS
Once you have selected your warriors, have them put on their goggles (you can get these at the Dollar Store)- they are going to war after all! You will then need to hand them an opened Slim Jim so that they are ready for their battle.
This Slim Jim Battle will be done like fencing. Remind them that their goal is NOT to leave a mark on the other person! Whoever makes contact first, wins. Set a 60-second time limit and boundaries so that you have a winner for each pairing. After the first round is played, keeping pairing groups down until you have a championship round and winner.
BONUS TIPS
1. If you really want to go crazy, let your entire group play the game, just know that chaos is likely to ensue!
2. Make the boundaries smaller if a pairing has not scored a point after 60-seconds. The goal is to get them close enough that eventually one person will have to win.
3. I recommend playing first person to 2 or 3, but feel free to make a one and done scenario if you’re crunched for time.
4. Award a box of Slim Jims (you can buy them at Sam’s Club or Costco) to the winner.

In real estate, they say the most important thing is location, location, location. One factor that is often left out of this equation is the importance of timing. For instance, real estate in New York City is prime right now, but it wasn’t always. The city eventually reached a point when that land became incredibly valuable.
When we rush ahead of God’s plan for our life, we miss out on what He wants us to become. Your value is not just in who you are, but in who God wants you to be! I wrote a blog recently that hit on the point that God wants us to learn from the journey, not just reach our goals. Part of learning from our travels in life is understanding the timing of God.
Today’s Friday Favorite comes courtesy of Creation Swap. I stumbled upon Creation Swap several years ago when it went by the name CreativeMYK. Their site contains thousands of Christian based graphics and motion clips for you to use.
The site is a giant network of people who share their work through the site. It is loaded with all sorts of graphic art in different formats. While some can only be downloaded in a .jpeg or .gif format, many others are editable. This make it nice if you want to tailor it for your church or student ministry.
