Here at Student Ministry Games, we realize that there is a plethora of game sites out there. Every Friday we will share one of our favorites with you, highlighting its strengths.

Today, we take a look at one of the big boys, Simply Youth Ministry’s morethandodgeball.

This site is run by Josh Griffin, a veteran youth pastor with 16 years of experience. He is the High School Pastor at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA.

There are a few things that I really like about Josh’s site. First of all, he is a youth pastor who has worked in a large and small church. Many times, you will see game blogs and sites that are written by phenomenal ministries, the only problem is that they are ineffective or impractical in many local churches. Josh strikes a good balance of big games for larger ministries without forgetting that many, if not most, ministries are working on a tight budget and with limited resources.

I must also say that morethandodgeball is one of the most practical and easiest websites to navigate. If you click on our link, you will see that his games and advice are listed in a simple blog format.

What I love most about Josh’s site is that he hits on a wide variety of gaming topics that are relevant for pastors and leaders today. One post will cover new game apps, with the next about games to play at the dinner table, followed by a breakdown of Halo. It’s awesome!

Honestly, if there were one site I’d like mine to be like, it would be morethandodgeball. While it has some incredible games, it also has some outstanding resources that you can incorporate into your ministry. So take a little time today to check it out and let us know what you think as well.
